I am a single mom of two beautiful girls. I grew up in the Bronx, New York and have travelled to many different places. Some of the places I have called home besides the Bronx include Ann Arbor, Chicago, Konya and Antalya. I have lived in North Carolina since 2008.
I have always wanted to be a teacher. As an undergraduate student, the professors convinced me that I would help more students doing research so I entered a PhD program at the University of Michigan. After I received my MA in Cognitive Psychology, I decided that I wanted to get into a classroom because I missed the interaction with students. I went to Turkey on vacation, married and started a family there. I worked as an English teacher for multiple grade levels. I made the decision to come back to the States and received my K-6 certification. This will be my eighth year that I have been working at TMSA.
I believe that most children enter the world full of wonder and amazement. I try to teach the students the skills they need to become critical thinkers. I want students to view their learning as a journey and there is more than one way to travel.
